What you'll do:
As a Learning and Development Manager based in Hong Kong / Shenzhen, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future capabilities of a global workforce.
- Collaborate with internal business partners, subject matter experts, programme owners, project teams, and business leaders to conduct comprehensive learning needs assessments and identify key performance gaps across the organisation.
- Design and develop engaging learning solutions that meet designated objectives at both local and global levels, utilising a variety of delivery methods including live sessions, e-learning modules, and self-paced courses.
- Act as project manager for multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring clear communication, prioritisation of tasks, and successful execution within established timelines.
- Support local learning activities by partnering with designated business units to develop and deploy targeted training programmes that address specific developmental needs.
- Implement organisational development programmes, processes, and training initiatives that proactively address evolving business requirements through appropriate delivery channels for diverse audiences.
- Continuously evaluate the progress and effectiveness of training initiatives by gathering feedback, analysing outcomes against objectives, and sharing best practices with team members to enhance future programmes.
- Provide expert advice on learning approaches to help participants upskill or reskill effectively using diverse methodologies tailored to individual learning styles.
- Implement robust learning and development policies and procedures including audit processes, reporting mechanisms, yearly training plans, and tracking of all learning activities.
- Manage a team of direct reports focused on LMS administration and learning development by providing direction, support, mentorship, and ensuring successful achievement of stated objectives.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned or requested to support the overall mission of the organisation’s learning strategy.
What you bring:
To excel as a Learning and Development Manager in this global setting you will bring extensive experience planning, designing, developing, and implementing corporate learning initiatives—ideally within manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating effectively with stakeholders at all levels within multicultural environments to build trustful relationships that facilitate successful learning outcomes.
- Thorough understanding of contemporary learning and development processes combined with deep knowledge of adult education principles applicable in corporate settings.
- Exceptional communication skills enabling you to convey ideas clearly both orally and in writing across multinational teams.
- Proven hands-on experience designing engaging training programmes using varied delivery formats such as live instruction, e-learning modules (including SCORM standards), self-paced courses, video production tools, multimedia applications, and virtual platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in LMS administration (Saba preferred) alongside strong capabilities in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams while providing guidance where needed; adept at supporting others’ growth through empathetic leadership.
- In-depth industry knowledge spanning manufacturing, engineering or automotive sectors which informs your approach to developing relevant content for technical audiences.
- Excellent service mindset demonstrated by your commitment to delivering high-quality support; well-organised with meticulous attention to detail even under pressure.
- Experience managing direct reports within a learning function including mentoring staff responsible for LMS operations and programme delivery.
- Fluency in English & Mandarin Chinese allowing you to communicate seamlessly across regional boundaries.
