Head of Compensation & Benefits (100-110k) – Chinese Firm

My client is a renowned Chinese firm recognised for its excellence in the industry. They are currently seeking a Head of Compensation & Benefits to lead their team and drive strategic initiatives in this vital area. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and enhance the firm's compensation and benefits framework, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the compensation and benefits division, overseeing all operations related to payroll, insurance, retirement plans, performance management, annual budgeting, and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Office and partner with HR leaders from other subsidiaries for both regular and ad-hoc reporting, as well as to implement group-level compensation and benefits initiatives.
  • Manage full spectrum of compensation and benefits operations, including payroll processing, retirement plans, employee insurance options, and the upkeep of HR systems.
  • Serve as the project lead for the HR department's annual budgeting process, offering essential guidance and support to line managers.
  • Oversee the annual performance appraisal process for the Head Office, ensuring thorough planning and execution.
  • Conduct annual reviews of employee insurance programs, working with brokers and insurers for analysis, comparison, and renewal proposal preparation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation and benefits, and provide assistance to HR business partners and line managers on related matters.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in compensation and rewards.
  • Lead HR transformation projects, including process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Manage HR analytics and reporting, analysing data from various subsidiaries to communicate insights effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Supervise a team and handle additional projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in a large organisation, preferably with exposure to both Chinese firms and multinational companies; experience at the Group level is highly desirable, along with an experiences in leading a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Hong Kong's Labour Ordinance and MPF regulations.
  • Familiarity with Mainland labour laws and practices is a significant advantage.
  • Candidates with a PRC background who have previously worked in Hong Kong are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, with advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English, as well as excellent Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
  • Willingness to travel to China occasionally.
