Underwriting Manager, Life Operations

The role is to oversee underwriting and new business operations, ensuring SLA compliance and high-quality standards. The role involves assessing medical and non-medical cases, maintaining underwriting frameworks, ensuring AML/CTF compliance, collaborating with distribution channels, and supporting UAT and ad-hoc projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain underwriting and operational frameworks, including policies and procedural guidelines.
  • Oversee new business processing and underwriting activities to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met with high quality standards.
  • Conduct underwriting evaluations for both medical and non-medical cases within assigned approval authorities.
  • Collaborate with distribution channel team leads to identify service gaps and drive process improvements.
  • Review and validate customer due diligence requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with distribution channels such as agencies, bancassurance, and brokers.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and participate in ad-hoc initiatives and projects as required.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree holder or above; professional insurance qualifications (e.g. FLMI) are preferred.
  • At least 6 years of proven experience in life and medical insurance underwriting, less experience will be considered as Assistant Manager / Senior Officer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
