Exciting career opportunities at Resource Solutions

Dawn Sloan is an account manager for our recruitment process outsourcing business Resource Solutions, working on-site with a global banking client in Wilmington, Delaware. We caught up with Dawn to discuss what it’s like to work in a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) environment and why she loves working for Resource Solutions.
What attracted you to joining Resource Solutions?
I’d been working for a global recruitment company for over ten years when I was approached by an internal recruiter at Resource Solutions via LinkedIn. After a ten minute discussion about the company’s approach to recruitment and long-term goals, I was excited by the prospect of joining. Resource Solutions had only recently opened in the US market, so it seemed that there would be plenty of opportunities for me to grow my career and make a real impact. I carried out further research and was impressed by the company’s marketing activities and presence on Twitter. It reinforced the company’s professionalism as well as showed it to be a vibrant and fun place to work.
How did working at Resource Solutions differ from your previous role?
Although I was familiar with the concept of recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), I hadn’t experienced working in an RPO environment, so I was intrigued to learn how it worked. One of the key differences is the strategic approach to recruitment; we’re always focused on the bigger picture and how we can implement robust processes that will bring long-term value to our clients. It’s a very rewarding way to work as you can see the impact of your actions. In addition, the teams work together collaboratively rather than in silos, which means you have greater opportunities to widen your skillset and you truly feel that you’re part of something bigger.
What does a typical day involve and what do you enjoy most about your role?
Keeping one step ahead is crucial to my role, so a large part of my day-to-day involves me speaking with key stakeholders around the business to keep track of current projects as well as discussing what else may be coming down the pipeline. We’re hiring candidates daily, so I’ll regularly speak with the direct recruiters about where they are sourcing talent, as well as brainstorm ways in which we can engage the best talent. I also spend time talking to the client to discuss their priorities and the kinds of candidates they’re looking to attract.
I love the fast pace and variety of my role – it helps to keep the day interesting. I also enjoy the problem-solving aspect of my role and the fact that none of my tasks feel like a tick-box exercise; everything I do has a visible impact.
How would you describe the company culture?
It’s an incredibly hardworking environment - when I first joined, I was inspired by the engagement levels throughout the business. I’ve found my colleagues to be incredibly passionate and they take a lot of pride in their work. In addition, the team in our Global Service Centre (GSC) has focused on establishing strong connections between the on-site and off-site teams. This has been instrumental in promoting a culture of collaboration and ensuring that everyone feels part of the Resource Solutions family.
What are the benefits of working for Resource Solutions?
One of the best things about working at Resource Solutions is that the company is committed to building long-term relationships, both internally and externally. The leadership team are passionate about hiring great people and nurturing their talent to grow the business, so there’s plenty of opportunities available to people that are serious about developing their career.
Working for Resource Solutions also offers a very different perspective to building client relationships compared to a traditional recruitment role. If you’re looking to take your recruitment career in a new direction, it’s a great company to gain exposure to a dynamic RPO environment as well as the opportunity to work on exciting projects with global clients.
What qualities do you need to succeed at Resource Solutions?
Having the ability to use your initiative is probably one of the most important qualities needed to succeed at Resource Solutions. Whilst the leadership team offer excellent training and support, you need to be comfortable with working autonomously and confident in your decision-making. Similarly, you need to be a keen problem-solver and have a proactive approach.
