Our client is seeking an experienced CFO to lead finance, bridge corporate and fund operations, and support ongoing fundraising. You’ll own reporting, cash, governance and investor communications while building scalable systems for growth.

Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Hong Kong
Reporting To: CEO / Board

About the Role

My Client is strengthening its finance leadership during a pivotal growth and fundraising phase. We are seeking an experienced, strategic CFO to lead the finance function across corporate and fund entities, institutionalize governance, and partner with senior stakeholders to deliver performance with control. The role requires deep familiarity with funds/asset management environments and the ability to collaborate closely with fund‑side leaders.

Core Mandate

  • Own the Group P&L, balance sheet, and cash; deliver accurate, timely, and insight‑rich management and statutory reporting.
  • Unify corporate and fund reporting: align GAAP reporting with fund NAV/performance metrics; standardize data definitions across entities.
  • Investor‑ready governance: implement policies, controls, and documentation that meet institutional standards and fundraising due diligence.
  • Strategic partner: translate financials into drivers, risks, mitigations, and action plans; support capital allocation and portfolio decisions.
  • Systems & process transformation: upgrade ERP/BI and close processes; automate data flows and reduce manual work.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Set the finance vision and operating model; define KPIs and dashboards linked to growth and fundraising milestones.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and sensitivity analysis; provide clear guidance to the Board on capital requirements and runway.
  • Develop capital structure strategy (equity, debt, facilities); maintain banking relationships and covenant compliance.

Funds Interface & Investor Communications

  • Oversee fund admin/vendor management; ensure timely, accurate NAV, valuation memos and performance reporting.
  • Coordinate ILPA‑style investor packs, DDQs, data rooms, and LP communications; support fundraising and investor onboarding.
  • Partner with front office, investment, and operations teams to align deal pipeline with financial capacity and risk appetite.

Controllership & Compliance

  • Own statutory reporting, audits, and tax; design and enforce accounting policies across entities.
  • Establish COSO‑aligned internal controls; remediate deficiencies; maintain a robust risk register.
  • Ensure compliance with HKEX/HKFRS/IFRS and familiarity with SFC‑regulated contexts (e.g., Type 9 environments), as applicable.

Treasury, Cash & Working Capital

  • Manage liquidity, FX, and interest rate exposure; set hedging policies and working capital targets.
  • Optimize cash investment policies and bank platform utilization; drive cash visibility and forecasting accuracy.

Systems & Data

  • Lead ERP/BI selection, implementation, and enhancement (e.g., NetSuite/SAP + Power BI/Tableau).
  • Reduce month‑end close timeline; improve data quality, lineage, and auditability.

Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and structure a high‑performing finance team (Controllership, FP&A, Treasury/Tax, Fund Reporting).
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile (Must‑Haves)

  • Proven experience as CFO/Head of Finance in funds/asset management, PE/VC, family office, or financial institutions.
  • Funds knowledge: NAV oversight, valuation governance, fund admin/vendor management, LP/GP reporting.
  • Stakeholder leadership: Board‑level communication; strong relationships with investors, banks, auditors, and fund administrators.
  • Governance & compliance: internal controls design/remediation; audit management; familiarity with HK regulatory landscape.
  • Systems fluency: ERP/BI implementation and data‑driven decision support.
  • Hong Kong experience with regional exposure is preferred; bilingual (English/Cantonese/Mandarin) advantageous.

Nice‑to‑Haves

  • Direct involvement in fundraising (equity/debt), data room build, DDQ, LP onboarding.
  • Experience with treasury/FX hedging, covenant design and lender negotiations.
  • Post‑deal integration and finance transformation in PE‑backed environments.
  • Exposure to multi‑jurisdiction group structures and tax planning.

Success Metrics

  • On‑time, accurate close; Board and investor packs with actionable insights.
  • Improved liquidity and working capital; covenant headroom maintained.
  • Control environment maturity and clean audits; timely audit sign‑off.
  • Reduced reporting cycle time; ERP/BI adoption and data quality improvements.
  • High engagement scores within the finance team; clear succession and capability build.

Culture & Benefits

  • High‑impact leadership role with direct access to Board and C‑suite.
  • Competitive package with performance‑linked incentives; potential long‑term alignment (e.g., LTI/carry, subject to company policy).
  • Opportunity to shape finance and governance standards during a pivotal growth phase.
