Survey reveals 80% of Irish professionals looking to move roles

7/9/2010

Ireland

According to a recent survey by Robert Walters, 80% of Irish professionals would consider moving from their current role. Over 500 Irish professionals were surveyed on a variety of employment related issues ranging from motivation levels and hours worked through to environmental policies and employer support.

Respondents were asked if they were currently considering moving roles, with 39% of those surveyed saying they were actively looking for a new opportunity and 41% saying they could be tempted by the right role and salary. Only 17% indicated that they were not looking to move and the remaining 3% of those surveyed were not currently working.

Louise Campbell, Managing Director of Robert Walters Ireland, commented:

“The fact that 80% of Irish professionals are either actively looking for a new opportunity or would consider moving for the right role and salary varies hugely from the employee sentiment of 2009. This time last year job retention and stability were of great concern to all employees and employee movement was low. Professionals who were able to retain their jobs in the downturn were often not looking to change roles, even when an opportunity arose.

These survey results reflect an increase in employee confidence in the jobs market and employees are motivated by the potential possibilities open to them when the market begins to turn.”
