LEGAL COUNSEL – ASIA PACIFIC

Due to continued expansion, we are seeking to hire a Legal Counsel to join our busy global legal team. The current structure of the legal team comprises the Group Head of Legal with 5 direct reports situated in UK and the Asia Pacific Regional Counsel reporting to the Group Head of Legal with also a team of 2 direct reports.
This is a new role reporting into the Group Head of Legal and the Asia Regional Counsel will ideally be based in Singapore or possibly Hong Kong. This is an outstanding opportunity for a high-calibre lawyer to build a long-term career in fast moving global business and deliver realistic solutions to senior management.
Focusing on negotiating complex commercial agreements with the firm’s partners, this role is deal-orientated, client-facing and highly commercial. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality pragmatic legal advice on a wide variety of manners, such as employment, litigation and IP, corporate and contractual advice , for this business unit as well as at a Group level.
There is excellent career potential for more senior positions in the future.
• you may have a minimum of 5years’ PQE HK, Singapore, UK qualified but this does not preclude someone with more qualified experience from applying for the role
• training from a recognised City law firm or regional heavyweight
• strong drafting and negotiation skills
• strong outsourcing experience is required including negotiation of preferred supplier agreements
• strong tender experience would be extremely advantageous and also provision of regulatory advice, risk assessment, and review of terms and conditions
• involved in research on international regulations for establishment of companies, regulatory issues and providing legal opinion to executive committee members
• ability to provide contractual advice on a wide range of in-house type issues, such as litigation, corporate, IP, IT and insurance
• ability to navigate tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities
• ability to take personal initiative whilst also being a team player
• strong commercial acumen and also ability to communicate effectively or influence is important - will also need to build rapport with clients, internal staff and legal counsels
• strong communicator with fluent English, and Mandarin or Cantonese advantageous
