This multibillion dollar retailer of a wide variety of general merchandise has a well established sourcing operation in Asia, headquartered in Hong Kong. As the company matures and strives to continue to improve systems, processes and the overall level of service provided to its home country operations, the need has arisen to create this new role leading all quality assurance for the region.
Responsibilities:
manage all quality teams based in Asia
review, establish and own all quality strategies, policies and standards
plan and direct team to improve efficiencies, operational control/assurance processes
manage all quality functions to support the business operations and all sourcing activities
vendor management and vendor evaluation
responsible for product safety to ensure quality performance of products in compliance with standards as well as brand and customers requirements
develop strategies and policies for product assessment in relation to technical performance
identify technical issues and conduct risk assessments to facilitate merchandising in decision making process
oversee the ethical and social compliance program
Background:
15 + years experience in quality assurance management in China and surrounding regions, with at least five years in a sourcing company
some exposure across a broad range of product categories, including apparel, footwear and full range of general merchandise and home textiles would be an advantage
management experience at a mid to senior level
proven track record in successfully managing the full spectrum of quality operations
experience in managing programs designed to build vendor capability and capacity to execute QA requirements
experience having worked in a factory environment an advantage
ability to coach, develop and motivate a team
excellent spoken and written English skills, Mandarin advantageous but not mandatory
